Understand, secure and future-proof your legacy software.
We analyse, document, maintain and modernise long-grown software and replace it step by step or entirely. And when you need something completely new, we build it with AI assistance – at a fraction of what it used to cost.

The situation
Does this sound familiar?
Many companies and public bodies rely every day on software written 10, 20 or 30 years ago. It works – but it is increasingly becoming a risk.
Knowledge is retiring
Only one person still really understands the system – and they are about to retire, or have already left.
Nobody knows exactly how it works
Documentation is missing or outdated. The rules, data and interfaces behind it are unclear.
Security gaps, no more updates
The programming language, framework, database or operating system no longer receives security updates.
Every change takes weeks
Small adjustments are expensive and risky because nobody knows what else might break.
No connection to modern systems
Interfaces to portals, e-filing, ERP, cloud services or mobile devices are missing.
New obligations, old technology
GDPR, NIS2, security standards, accessibility or e-government requirements that the old system can't meet.
The good news: a legacy application is not a mistake. It often holds decades of valuable business knowledge. We help you preserve that knowledge and make the technology underneath it fit for the future.
Services
Six services – one goal: software that works for you
You can start with any service on its own. Often they build on each other: first understand, then secure, then renew – or build something new straight away.
New applications on a modern software stack – built with AI assistance and therefore at a fraction of what it used to cost.

Our expertise
30 years of experience meets AI expertise
AI alone doesn't modernise software. What makes the difference are people who know how long-grown systems really work – and which tool is right for which task. That is exactly the combination we bring.
30 years of software development experience
30years of software development experience
Our company brings together 30 years of software development experience – in almost all common programming languages and systems, from mainframes and client-server applications to the cloud. We know many of the technologies now considered “legacy” from hands-on practice. That's why we understand code nobody else wants to touch any more.
The right AI model for every task
There is no single “AI”. Models differ widely in how well they understand old code, write documentation, generate tests or transform data. From hands-on practice we know which model is best suited to which task – and deliberately use the right one. The result: better quality in less time.
An extensive prompt library
We have built a large collection of detailed, precise prompts – for practically every task that comes up in a software project: code analysis, documentation, refactoring, test generation, migration and new development. Proven prompts deliver reliable, traceable results instead of lucky hits – and save you time and money.
Databases and data architecture
Legacy applications often hold decades of data – usually their most valuable part. We have extensive knowledge of databases, data modelling and data architecture. So we migrate your data safely, clean up legacy clutter and create a solid foundation for new applications, interfaces and analytics.
In short: we combine three decades of software development know-how with the targeted use of modern AI. That makes our work faster and more affordable – and the results reliable.

Documentation, knowledge transfer to your team and, if you wish, long-term maintenance from a single source.
Why “neocoding.ai”?
Analysed with AI. Owned by people.
Old codebases are often huge, hard to navigate and written in languages few people still speak. With the right AI model for each task and our proven prompts, we read and understand them much faster. That saves you time and money – without compromising on quality or confidentiality.
AI helps us read code, spot relationships and produce documentation – even across hundreds of thousands of lines.
Reviewed by humans
Every result is reviewed by developers with decades of hands-on experience. AI is a tool, not a decision-maker.
Confidentiality first
We agree with you which tools we use – up to analysis exclusively inside your environment, or without AI at all. Your code is not used to train AI models.
More budget for what matters
Less manual effort for onboarding and documentation means more budget for the actual modernisation.
New software at a fraction of the cost
The same tools make new development much cheaper too. Custom software becomes affordable for organisations that could not justify it before.
Who we help

Migration paths
Which path suits your technology?
The most urgent candidates are systems without vendor support – such as Visual Basic 6, FoxPro or ASP.NET WebForms – and systems for which developers are hard to find, such as RPG, Delphi or Notes. This overview shows typical paths for custom applications in small and medium-sized businesses. The target is usually current .NET or Java with a web user interface; which platform fits depends on your infrastructure and your team.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Your question isn't listed? Just write to us – we're happy to help.
What is a legacy application?
A legacy application is software that is important for your operations but runs on outdated technology, is hard to change, or whose knowledge is held by only a few people. Age alone isn't the deciding factor – even a ten-year-old application can be “legacy”.
Does my legacy application have to be replaced entirely?
In many cases, no. It is often more economical to keep the proven business logic and only modernise the technology or replace individual parts. We only recommend a complete rewrite when it clearly pays off.
How much does modernisation cost?
That depends heavily on the size, condition and goals of the application. This is why we usually start with a Legacy Check at a fixed price of €2,499 net. Afterwards you receive a sound estimate of effort and cost for each possible path. New development benefits most from AI: many projects now cost only a fraction of earlier quotes. Our example Legacy Check shows what the report looks like.
How long does a project take?
Depending on scope, a Legacy Check usually takes a few days to a few weeks. We plan modernisations and replacements in stages, each delivering usable results on its own. You see progress early and can reprioritise at any time.
What if there is no source code or documentation left?
There are still ways forward. We analyse databases, user interfaces, configuration, data flows and the application's behaviour, and we talk to its users. Where legally permitted, we also examine the existing program files.
Will operations continue during modernisation?
Yes – this is especially important to us. We work step by step, test thoroughly and, where necessary, run old and new systems in parallel until everything works reliably.
How do you handle confidential code and sensitive data?
On request, we sign a non-disclosure agreement and a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). We follow the principle of least privilege, prefer anonymised test data, and only use AI tools with your approval.
Do you work for public authorities and institutions?
Yes. We know the requirements of the public sector – from procurement and EVB-IT to data protection, IT baseline security and accessibility – and prepare proposals that fit your procedure.
Is AI-assisted software just as secure and maintainable?
Yes – when it's done properly. We never let AI write code unchecked. Every change is reviewed by experienced developers, covered by automated tests and documented. We use established, open technologies so that others can maintain your application in the future too.
Can you take over an application from another provider?
Yes. We take over maintenance and further development even if the application was built by another provider or the original developer is no longer available. It starts with an orderly handover including analysis and documentation.
Which AI do you use?
That depends on the task. AI models have very different strengths – in understanding old programming languages, writing documentation, generating tests or transforming data. For each task we choose the model best suited to it, and we work with our own extensive library of proven prompts. We agree with you in advance which tools are used in your project – up to models that run exclusively in your environment.
How much experience do you have?
Our company brings together 30 years of software development experience – in almost all common programming languages and systems, as well as databases and data architecture. We know many of the technologies now considered legacy from hands-on practice. This experience is what allows us to use AI in a targeted and responsible way.
Do you work remotely or on site?
Both. We handle most tasks remotely via secure access. For workshops, interviews or work in isolated networks, we're happy to come to you.
